“Well, look who showed up. I told you, you could now witness the death of your boyfriend. Any last words?” I stared in shock as Daniel was being held up by two of the other members of The Gang; he still had the same amount of anger in his eyes as he did when he left.

I ran over to Daniel, Craig motioned for the guys holding him to let go. I stared into his eyes and was pulled into a hug, tears started to cascade down my face. I looked back into Daniel’s eyes, still in his arms, as he gently kissed me. I wish none of this had happened; he didn’t deserve any of this.

“Let’s try and get away, on the count of-“ I whispered into Daniel’s shoulder but was cut off.

“No, there’s no way we can get out. I’m fighting for you, I’ll be fine.”

“What do you mean? No Daniel, I’m not letting you. Come on let’s go.” It was a mistake that I had shouted that out loud, my uncle came over to me and dragged me away; far enough away from Daniel but close enough to be able to smell any blood that left his body.

The two other men came back and held Daniel up straight again.

“NO, TAKE ME. LET HIM GO. THIS IS MY FIGHT.”

“Sorry Madi, I’m after the boy. I’ve done my business with you.” As he said that Daniel launched for him but was punched back down into the ground. I could see pain in him but he didn’t want to stop.

Daniel tried to throw a few punches, but most of them were missed and he just got thrown back by the men. He had blood dripping from his nose and head. I could tell Daniel was getting tired but all I could do was scream. Like that was ever going to help.

Every punch that was thrown at him, felt like a punch being thrown at me. Beau told me he needed to come but I just wouldn’t listen to him, I just wanted to listen to what I thought was right. I was wrong. Maybe if he was here then he could’ve helped, but no; I stopped him from coming.

Daniel was now beaten up onto the floor. Laying there, drenched in blood. He tried his hardest to open his eyes but it was no use, he barely had any energy left in him. Craig still had his hold on me as he dragged me towards Daniel.

“Now this is what I call a show. You see this gun Madi; I want you to hold it up.”  He forced the gun into my hand and aimed it directly at Daniel’s head. I tried to pull my arm away but he kept it in place.

“All I need you to do is shoot. Simple right?” I saw Daniel open his eyes slightly; he took one look at the gun, one look at me, and one look at the trigger.

“If you shoot, I’ll let you go.” I couldn’t do it, why would I do it?

I had never opened myself up to anyone, not even my family. My life was tucked away in my mind, screaming to break out, but I always believed that no one wanted to listen. There was something different about Daniel; it was as if he was the only exception. How could I kill someone that has done so much for me?

“Do it.” I looked down to hear Daniel’s reply. Why did he want me to shoot him? He nodded to me; I started to feel light-headed again.

“I’m gonna let go of your hand so you can do this yourself, there’s only one bullet left in this gun. It is also the only gun we have left.” As he let go, my head started to hurt again, my body swayed from side to side and all I could hear was, “Do it. Do it. Do it.” It wasn’t the voice of my uncle or Daniel. At first I couldn’t tell whose voice it was, but then it became clear. It was my dad’s. Suddenly, I spiralled into a world of my own. It felt like I was having an outer-body experience. If I looked into the distance I could see my dad, all suited in his army uniform.

“Madi, it’s so nice to see you.”

“Dad, I’ve missed you so much.”

“Well if you do it, you won’t have to wait that long.”

With that, he left. I was back in the real world. I opened my eyes to see the gun still pointed straight at Daniel; I decided to listen to my father’s words. You won’t have to wait that long.

“I’m so sorry.” Those were my final words. I quickly aimed the gun at the exact point I needed and pulled the trigger. That one bullet was gone.

It was done, in one second. The gun was aimed and at that second I shot myself in the head, blood poured like a waterfall down the side of my face and slowly making its way down my body. Before I fell to the ground, I re-lived my whole life. The last thing that I saw was Daniel’s face as he realized I had just shot myself.

That probably had to be the best decision I ever made. Everyone was happy; I was finally reunited with my father. Shortly followed by my mother, who died from a heart attack in the mental home. No one had to undergo anything from my mistakes anymore. Obviously everyone was devastated at what had happened, but to be honest, I didn’t care. Everyone was now safe. No suffering had to be caused because of me now.

Beau, Luke and Louise came just after I had shot myself, closely followed by the police. They charged into the house only to see Daniel on the floor, nearly dead. If they had taken any longer he would’ve been dead. Luckily, he arrived at the hospital and was treated. There was no serious damage. However, The Gang got away before the police could get them. They’re still roaming the streets of Melbourne but far away from my family.

Daniel’s now got a girlfriend who he’s happy with. He still keeps a picture of me in his wallet but is insanely in love with her. Why wouldn’t he be? She’s absolutely stunning, blonde hair, bright green eyes and fairly tanned skin. They’ve only been going out for a year, but she understands that he doesn’t want to get married, luckily enough; neither does she. Daniel is still in the Janoskians; they’re globally famous and have achieved so much. He also started to take kick-boxing a lot more seriously. He’s won a few of his fights, lost a few and drew a few. The thing that makes me smile is that before each fight that he’s about to do, he’ll whisper under his breath,

“This is for you Madi.”

Beau and Louise have moved in with each other, she has gone on to start a business in fashion and it has gone pretty well so far. The other day they adopted a Labrador, it’s adorable. They live in an apartment in Glenroy, close to Gina. Beau’s still in the Janoskians and Louise has supported him through everything. Also, when he has to travel; they’ll skype each other every night so they don’t miss each other too much. I’m pretty sure they’re going to be together forever. Funny what one spin-the-bottle game can do to the rest of your life.

Jai and Jess are probably one of the cutest couples, she’s in University now and even though she’s really busy, Jai will always make time to see her. Whether it’s him going over to stay the night with her, or her having to go to whatever state or country he is in. She’s a part of the family now, Gina absolutely loves her and Jai loves that. The two most important girls in his life are happy and that is what he cares about, along with all his fans. Jai’s favourite place now is probably the gym, not just because that’s where he is relaxed and gets to exercise but because that was the first place where he laid eyes on Jess.

Luke, Laura, James and Ashley are all travelling to different places in the world. Luke and James are still in the Janoskians and Laura finished university and is looking to find a job soon. Ashley went into a family business of hers and absolutely loves it. They all are in Paris right now, seeing as it is the romantic capital. Luke and Laura had one break up in their relationship, but when she realized how adorable and how much in love he was with her, she couldn’t not take him back. Laura’s family love Luke, at first they thought he wasn’t good company because of being in the Janoskians but after seeing how much he cared for Laura, they gladly welcomed him into the family. One of the cutest things I’ve ever witnessed was when James told Ashley he loved her. It was at the park at midnight and he had made a candle-lit dinner. Even though it was seriously cheesy, Ashley loved it. They had finished eating and just lay there under the stars and then James turned towards Ashley and lifted her chin so he could kiss her. He then stared into her eyes for a while and told her he loved her. It was absolutely perfect. They’re absolutely perfect.

As for me, I’m happy where I am. To be finally with my family again is amazing. I do miss everyone, especially Brooke. But now I can look over my whole family and friends’, knowing that they’re safe is the most important thing for me. I especially look down at Daniel, seeing him happy again after my death is all I could ask for. It took him a couple of years but with the support of everyone he went back to the cute little gremlin that he always was. I make sure that he is OK, it’s the least I could do after all that he had done. I will always remember the first night I properly met Daniel, the first night I got to see what he really was like, the first night I fell in love with my only exception.

“That’s it; I’m not even fucking joking anymore. I’m going for him.” Daniel shot up from the couch and started to head for the door.

“Daniel stop! You saw what happened last time you went for him. Please don’t go. I need to tell you something.” He took one last look at me and went for the door; there was no stopping him this time.

I ran upstairs to see Luke peacefully sleeping in his room; I ran over to him and shook him as hard as I could to wake him up. It took a while but he finally got up, panic had taken over my face and Luke could see this.

“Madi what happened? Where’s Daniel?”

“He’s gone, I got a text from Craig and he just flipped and left to go for him. Luke we need to get Beau to stop him!”

“Calm down Madi, we can sort this out. Skip doesn’t even know where our uncle lives so he won’t go that far, get your phone and we’ll call Beau.”

I ran downstairs and went into the living room, thoroughly searching for my phone but not finding it anywhere. I was pretty sure I left it in here. I ran into the kitchen, looking everywhere but not finding it anywhere.

Daniel probably came back in knowing that he’d not know where to go and taken my phone, this was terrible. I wish I could’ve stopped him when I had the chance but he got away, which must’ve meant that he came back into the house to get it. He couldn’t have gotten that far then.

I turned around to see Luke sleepily walking down the stairs.

“Found it yet?”

“Luke I’m scared, I think he took it. He’s probably gonna call him and then he’s gonna go and then he’s gonna get hurt! This is my entire fault, what can we do?”

“Panicking isn’t gonna get us anywhere, use the home phone to call Beau. I’m gonna go upstairs and get changed.” Luke shifted his weight upstairs as I reached for the phone, dialling Beau’s number.

It rang for a while but no one picked up, I tried again and again when finally he answered.

“Hello?”

“Beau it’s Madi. Listen to me, something’s happened, you need to go to Craig’s house. Daniel’s gone over and he’s gonna get hurt. Beau you need to hurry up, me and Luke are the only ones home right now, please just hurry up.”

“Madi, hold up. Why is Daniel going over there? What happened?”

“Beau, just go!”

“Is this some kind of joke; is Brooke behind it just because I poured water over her? Well I can’t go because I’m on a date with Louise now, so tell her to fuck off.”

I couldn’t handle Beau right now; he was the only person I could count on.

“Beau this… this isn’t a joke. He’s taken my phone… He’s really going and he’s going to get hurt. Why won’t you listen for once?” Beau could finally here the pain in my voice. I told him that I’d meet him there with Luke.

I didn’t know what to do in the time that I was waiting for Luke; I kept pacing around the room, back and forth. Just imagining what they could do to Daniel killed me; I didn’t even get to tell him that I’m not going to die. I should’ve told him before he left; maybe he would’ve changed his mind. The voices in my head kept telling me it was my fault, and I couldn’t help but agree with them.

Daniel could’ve been anywhere by now, Luke and I had just left the house. We had to take a train; it was the quickest way to get there.

“Madi, don’t worry. We’re gonna get him back. He might not have even gone, you never know?”

“Why are you lying to me, you know he’s gonna go and do whatever he can to get revenge on them. I just wished I could’ve told him before he left.”

“Told him what?”

“I’m not gonna die Luke. They got it all wrong, but what’s the point now. I’d rather die now then watch Daniel get hurt.”

“He’s not gonna get hurt because we’re gonna get there before anything happens. For all we know; Beau’s probably already there.” I rested my head on Luke’s shoulder, why did I have to bring everyone into this? It had nothing to do with Beau and Luke; they shouldn’t have gone through all of this trouble.

We stopped at a station near to my uncle’s house. Passengers were getting on and off, then I suddenly realised Beau and Louise were two of the few passengers getting on. Why the hell did he have to bring Louise? This meant more people getting hurt; I had to stop this before it got out of hand.

“Beau, what the fuck are you doing here? Where’s your car?” Luke seemed a bit pissed off.

“It got towed away because I parked in an unpermitted area. Louise would’ve brought her car but that would’ve taken-“

“Go home.” I lifted my head off of Luke’s shoulders, gesturing him to get up.

“What no? If you’re taking Luke with you, I’m going.”

“Luke as well. All of you. This is my problem.”

“We are not leaving you to go by yourself, are you fucked? No way.” I looked at Luke with piercing eyes; he knew I was being serious.

“Listen to them Madi, you can’t go by-“

“Louise, listen to me. I don’t want any of you to get hurt. I’m begging you to go home, for me please. I just need to do this myself, can you not understand that?”

“No we can’t? You’re just going to get hurt yourself; you’re like our little sister Madi.”

“I don’t care who I am. I don’t even know who I am anymore. Please Beau.”

“No.” At this point I stood up, why couldn’t any of them just listen?

“Do you know what really pisses me off Beau; you never fucking listen to anyone? Why can’t you do what other people fucking tell you to do?” People started to turn their heads as my voice got louder.

“It’s my job to fucking protect you, face it Madi. We’re your only family you have left. You’re just gonna tell us to piss off like that?”

“I’ve still got my mum Beau.” We were at the point where we were shouting at each other and people from other carriages could probably hear us.

“Well where the fuck is she now? Oh yeah, in a mental hospital. That’s where you’re gonna be if you don’t listen to me!” I looked at Beau in shock, I brought this on myself but I couldn’t believe he just said that.

“Beau, what the fuck? Why did you just say that to Madi?” The train stopped and I got out as quickly as I could, I got trapped in between a crowd of people so Louise, Beau and Luke couldn’t find me.

Once I was out of sight from anyone, I ran. I ran as fast as I could. I knew where I was and it wasn’t far from my uncles, in fact; if I kept on running, I would be at his in about 10minutes. As I ran through different streets, the words of what Beau said kept on circling my mind. But, I wasn’t angry at him. In a way I was glad that he said that, he was right. Where is my mum? If anything, I wanted to apologize to Beau. They have been my only family, and I just take them for granted. There’s no one else that I think about, it’s always about me. I hated myself for that. What would Gina think when all her children are out to just get killed, what would Brooke think when she goes home to see her sister that finally came back into her life, had just left again.

There was only one more road I had to go through. There weren’t many people there; it was quite a secluded area so I wasn’t very surprised. Thinking about it, I ran quite far the night Daniel found me. At the time it didn’t seem that far but now thinking back, it would’ve taken at least half an hour. I guess the saying’s right. Time goes by when you’re having fun.

I was stood outside the door of my nightmares, face to face with the memories that killed me emotions. I could leave now if I wanted, leave Melbourne for good. That idea of leaving and changing my name came back into my head again, except this time when I pictured the guy I would be with, he had no face. It wasn’t even Daniel’s face. It was no one’s and there were no children. The house was old and crooked, as if the life had been sucked out of it. It was grey outside, not even a glimpse of the Sun.

My train of thought had been interrupted when I heard a shout and a crash, without even thinking, I barged into the door. Luckily, it was open. Unluckily, I had just opened the door to my nightmares.

I woke up in the arms of Daniel; his slow breaths left warm shivers on my neck. It was all too comfortable to wake-up, but I was quite hungry. There was some bacon in the fridge so I decided to make some bacon and eggs.

As I was making breakfast, the telephone started to ring. It was the hospital again.

“Hello, yes this is Madilyn.”

“How are you?” It was the same doctor as before on the line again.

“I’m great, just making some breakfast.” I replied as I flipped the piece of bacon.

“We would love for you to come into the hospital today so we can make sure what we had told you is correct, have you told anyone yet?”

“Oh shit, sorry for swearing, that’s what I wanted to talk about with Daniel. No I haven’t told anyone yet. What time should I come in?” I put the bacon and eggs on two plates as I wrote down the time on a post-it-note that was stuck to the fridge.

The call ended as I heard rushed footsteps run down the stairs, Daniel came into the kitchen with wet hair and was already dressed.

“Morning Dan, I just remem-“

“I can’t talk now babe. Completely forgot that it’s my brother’s girlfriend’s birthday today and he needs my help to set the shit up for her and all his friends. Maybe after I’m done, if you’re free, we can go out or something?”

“I’m going to the hospital today but maybe after, I really need to talk to you.” Daniel came up to me and gave me a good-bye kiss. It was getting annoying how whenever I wanted to tell Daniel what the doctor had said, something always interrupted me.

“Ah cool, see ya babe. Wait, did you make the bacon for me.”

“Yeah but it’s fine, Gina texted me in the morning saying she’s gonna be home with Luke and Laura soon.” I put the food in the fridge and gave Daniel a hug before he left.

“Can’t believe I’m missing out on some good lahme. Oh well, see ya later babe.”

Just after Daniel left, I heard a knocking on the door. Gina, Luke and Laura walked through.

“Hey Mads, what’s that smell? It smells good.”

“It’s bacon, it’s in the fridge if you want some. How ya feeling Luke?”

“Fine now, where’s Skip?” I walked over to the couch to make a comfortable place for Luke to sit in.

“He’s gone to help his brother with something, can’t remember what he said.” I turned on the TV for Luke and walked into the kitchen. Gina asked me about the doctor’s appointment and I told her that they just needed to check something. Laura had left her jacket at the hospital so told me she would join me, as we were going to be going somewhere near Melbourne Central; we decided to invite all the other girls as well.

I went upstairs to get ready, just smearing some make-up on and putting on any items of clothing, then running back downstairs. Laura and I wanted to meet all of the others at a cafe before the hospital.

We all had ordered our usual coffees and cappuccinos and started to talk about random stuff.

“You should’ve seen it last night guys, Jai didn’t want to wear the top he was wearing yesterday to bed, but I didn’t have any spare so he had to sleep topless. I knew he had been working out a lot because the other day I even went to the gym with him, but I hadn’t realised his body was that amazing. I am literally the luckiest girl in the world.” We all laughed at how overwhelmed Jess was getting, obviously living with Jai I knew he worked out a lot. However, he’s my cousin so I don’t think of him in that way.

“Well, did Jai take you out for a boat ride in the middle of the night? Only joking, but James did actually do that. That was the actual definition of perfect.”

“Girls, girls; it’s not a competition. But if it were, I would win. Come on, I spent a whole night in an airport with my boyfriend sleeping in a comfortable bed whilst me and his mum slept in chairs. Ideal date right there.” We all laughed at Laura’s sarcasm and checked the time to see that we all should probably leave soon.

“Why do you have to go to the hospital today anyway?” I looked up at Louise as I went to put my share of money on the tab.

“I wanted to tell Daniel first but, the night Luke hurt himself. I got a call from the hospital and they said that they did the tests wrong before.”

“Does that mean you can you have children?”

“I wish Ashley, but I guess this is better. They said that… I’m not gonna die, they got it all wrong. They mixed my test results with someone else called Madilyn, except theirs was spelt normally.” All the girls were so happy; they didn’t know what to say. I didn’t really know what to say either.

“Come on then, let’s go to the hospital and then buy some drinks cos we’re gonna party tonight!”

“Hold up Jess, you’re the only ones that know. I wanna tell everyone at the right time… especially Daniel.”

We left for the hospital and got there a few minutes late, but it was fine. They told me about everything and apologized for the mix-up, I would’ve been a lot angrier because when I got the news I was going to die; it had messed my whole life up, but knowing that I wasn’t anymore was too good to get angry about. Daniel called me just after I had left the hospital, he wanted to know why I had to go but I told him to meet me at home so I could tell him. All the other girls had somewhere else to be so I took a bus ride home.

I walked into my house to see Luke asleep on the sofa with Daniel on the other couch playing Fifa. He looked up at me as I walked in and I went and sat on his lap.

“Where’s Gina?”

“Beau’s car broke down so she went to go pick him and Jai up from the gym, and I think James is coming around as well. Can’t really remember but yeah, ah for fucks sake, did you see how close I was to that goal?” I smiled at Daniel, not really caring if he scored the goal or not. Daniel and I carried on talking and laughing when we saw Luke wake up, he looked extremely pissed off.

“For fucks sake, you lot are speaking so loudly.” As he said that, he got up and took the blanket that was wrapped around him, walking slowly back up to his room.

I watched as Daniel finished his game, just as he was about to end it he suddenly stopped and remembered something.

“Oh yeah, why did you go to the hospital? Is there anything wrong?”

This time, before I could even start to tell him, I had gotten a text. It was from an unknown number. Daniel looked over my shoulder as we read it.

How’s my favourite niece? The hospital sent me the great news. Lucky that, now you can watch your boyfriend die when we kill him.

“What did the doctor say?” I looked at Daniel in shock; I couldn’t believe what I heard. It was as if I was in a dream again.

“The doct-“ I was cut off by the ringing of Daniel’s phone.

“Hold on a sec, Beau’s calling.” I looked at Daniel’s face as it went from happy, to confused, to worried.

“Fuck, is he alright? Oh, good. You scared me there Beau. Yeah, we’re coming over now. You sure he’s OK? Ok cool, see ya in a bit.” Daniel reached for the soaking wet top on the floor; he looked at it as it drenched his hands.

“Daniel… Are you gonna tell me what’s happened?”

“Oh yeah, they were stuck in traffic for ages so they decided to go somewhere out to eat. There was something about a wall or something… then Luke falling off, then blood, then he’s got a broken arm but everything’s fine. His head’s cut a bit but he’s awake and shit.” I was glad that Luke was OK. I watched as Daniel put on the soggy T-Shirt and getting his phone. I groaned as I quickly ran upstairs to get myself and Daniel new tops to wear, we got out of the house and got in a taxi to the airport.

When we arrived at the hospital, we walked over to the reception desk and got the number and floor that Luke was in. I hated hospitals, just the general vibe of it made me feel a bit weird and awkward. The room ‘12A’ was in bold letters on a door and I could hear James talking in the room, Daniel knocked on the door and entered to see everyone sitting down; apart from Luke who had his arm bandaged up and stitching on his head.

“Finally you guys are here, what were you two doing?” Daniel and I exchanged glances and smiled at each other.

“How are you Luke? What happened?” I avoided the question that Laura had asked.

“Yeah I’m fine, my head and arm hurt but I’m alright. When we were walking back from the shops, there was this platform thing and I slipped because of the rain then I dislocated my shoulder and scraped my head.”

“You’re such a fucking idiot.”

“Shut up Skip! I’m in a fucking hospital, I could’ve died.” Everyone laughed at Luke’s comment.

It was getting pretty late, we had all stayed there for over 3 hours and our staying time was over. Gina was going to sleep at the hospital with Luke because he had to stay overnight, at first Laura was going to go home but then decided she’d rather make sure Luke was alright. Beau was going over to Louise’s and Jai was staying at Jess’, that meant Daniel and I had the house to ourselves… that made Daniel quite happy.

We got a lift with Beau on the way home because he needed to take some spare clothes.

“Oh yeah, Madi what did the doctor say to you on the phone?” I had completely forgotten about that.

“Well, at first I thought they were just going to ask me to come back for one last check-up but instead he-“

“Louise, this is our song! We need to put this on full volume!” Once again, I had been interrupted.

“Shut up Beau, I’m trying to listen to Madi. Go on Mads.”

“Well he said that he’s got some-“

“OPAN GANGAM STYLE!” Louise and Beau “sang” in sync, I decided that I’d tell Daniel tonight seeing as we had the house to ourselves.

We arrived home and said our goodbyes to Louise and Beau; it had still been raining so we ran in.

“I’m quite hungry actually, what’s there to eat?”

“Ummm… should I make some pasta? I’ll show off my Italian side.” I walked into the kitchen with Daniel at my tail.

We messed around as we made the food, spilling the water and sauce everywhere but we didn’t care. It’s not like anyone was home to tell us off.

I set the food at the dinner table and Daniel and I started to eat.

“What were you doing in the time that we weren’t together? Were you just sitting around?” I tried to speak through mouthfuls of pasta.

“I played soccer a lot more and did a lot more kick-boxing, because that helped get my anger out.” I looked confusingly at Daniel.

“Why were you angry?”

“I was a dick, and I missed you a lot but if I saw you then I would just get upset. I’m not good with pouring my heart out in front of people.”

“Aw babe, you shouldn’t have beaten yourself up about it.”

“I didn’t, I beat up a punching bag and ball.” I laughed at Daniel’s joke and carried on finishing my dinner. As we were eating Daniel decided to put some music on.

“Let’s listen to some Weezy, I do the best Lil Wayne impression.”

“Do you now?  Well let’s hear you sing, I’m choosing the song.” I flicked through iTunes on his phone and stopped at ‘How To Love’.

“This is my song, are you ready?”

“Come into the kitchen so I can listen to your beautiful, angelic voice whilst I clean the dishes.” Daniel didn’t quite get the sarcasm.

As I was washing the dishes I listened to Daniel, it made me laugh at how hard he was trying to sing. To be honest, he wasn’t that bad…

“Oh my gosh, Daniel that was shit. Lil Wayne would be disappointed.”

“I’ve got a sore throat, when my vocal chords are fixed; trust me, I’m amazing.” I wiped my hands and moved in closer to Daniel.

“Well I guess I’ll just have to wait and see.” Daniel leaned into kiss me and we stood there in the kitchen in each other’s arms.

“Daniel, I think we should finish where we left off before we had to leave for the hospital?” I carried on kissing Daniel when he suddenly stopped.

“What were you gonna tell me before?”

“Oh, can’t remember now. Forget about it, it probably wasn’t even that important.”

Things were back on track; I had a proper family again, Daniel was back in my life and I started going out a lot more with my friends. I had to go to the hospital today to get the bandage off of my stomach at 3:00pm. Daniel came to pick me up for lunch at 1:00pm, we hadn’t been on a proper date so this was going to be our first official one; I was quite nervous but excited.

I put on a light blue crop top and some grey skinny jeans. Smearing my make-up on quickly, I heard the door bell ring.

“Gina, could you get the door, it’s probably Daniel.” I chucked my phone into my pocket and ran downstairs, I hugged Gina saying goodbye and walked out the door with Daniel hand-in-hand.

“Where do you want to go babe? I’m fucking hungry!”

“Ummm… I’m feeling like a Subway right now.”

As we arrived into the store it reminded me of the time where Luke used the cheesy pick up line on Laura. I chuckled at myself thinking about the memory; Daniel gave me a confused expression which made me laugh even more.

“Oh my god, is that Skip from the Janoskians? Who’s he with? Oh shit, isn’t that the Brooks brother’s cousin. I swear she was pregnant with her Dad’s child or something?” I could hear a girl whisper to her friend. I felt a sudden rush of coldness fill my skin; they didn’t even know what happened? It felt horrible that they were talking about me like that.

“Shut up, she might hear you.” As I turned my head to look at them, they turned theirs away.

“Madi, are you gonna take your Subway?”

“Huh? What… Oh yeah…” I took the Subway and sat at a table far away from theirs, pulled out a chair and sat down. Not saying a word, I started to eat my 6-inch sandwich.

“Fuck, this food is so good.”

“Yeah…”

“What’s the matter?” Even though I could hear Daniel speaking, none of what he was saying was actually going in. I kept on thinking about what those girls had said. What if everyone knew about what happened? Well, half of what happened. Was this all over twitter? I didn’t even have twitter or tumblr.

“Daniel, could I go on your phone really quickly?”

“Yeah why do you need it?”

“Just because…” He handed me the phone and I clicked on the twitter app. I only briefly understood how to use it, so I went onto his mentions to see a lot of messages saying follow me and I love you, but one caught my attention.

@Hayley5671: Madi is such a slut. She gets preggo with her dad then fucks @danielsahyounie telling him that it’s his. She needs to learn how to keep her pants on. #maditheslut

How could someone even write that without even knowing me? I never usually cared about what people thought, but when it was lies; it really got to me.

“I think we should leave, we’re gonna be late for my appointment.” I threw away the wrappers that were on the table and stood up, handing Daniel his phone back. I went to leave when Daniel pulled on my arm.

“What Daniel? Come on, let’s just go.”

“What’s up with you? You were fine in the morning.” I looked at him, preparing to say something but decided it would be better to leave. I took one glance at the girls sitting at the table and went straight through the door. There was an hour left before I had to be at my appointment but all I wanted to do was go home and just sleep. I thought today would be fun, but everything just turned out horrible. Being horrible to Daniel was not what I had planned for today, he didn’t know what was going on but I was just getting pissed off at the questions he kept on asking.

I was half way down the street when I turned around to see Daniel running behind me. Talking was the last thing I wanted to do.

“What the fuck Madi? What’s with the constant mood swings?”

“What the fuck Madi? More like, what the fuck Daniel? What’s with the constant questions? I just wanted to leave and go to an appointment, is that really too much to ask for?” All this anger was building up in me; I’ve never been like this with Daniel before. There was just something that he was doing that kept on pissing me off. Maybe it wasn’t even him.

“Sorry for caring! Are you seriously like on your period or something? Cos you’re being a bitch.” I stood there. Beau’s used that comment on me many times when we were younger; it never used to affect me. I actually used to laugh along. But with the circumstances that we were in, Daniel knew that when he got told I couldn’t have children; that would stop a lot of other things. It was horrible that he would think of a joke like that, especially after everything that’s happened.

“Oh so you think you’re funny now, making jokes about me like that and you think I’m a bitch? You’re a fucking asshole.”

“Shit, Madi I didn’t mean that. It just came out. I say that all the time! I always say that to my sisters when they’re angry.” I didn’t want to hear anymore, it would only take 30minutes to walk to the Doctors; I would be early but anywhere away from Daniel was best.

“Well go home and tell that joke to your sisters then.”

I got home at around 5:00pm. The only good thing about today was getting the bandage off of my stomach. Daniel texted me a few times telling me that he was sorry, but stopped after he got the message that I didn’t want to talk. I sat on the couch, wrapped myself in a blanket watching re-runs of Friends episodes. Thinking through everything that had gone on today, getting mad at Daniel was the worst. I over-reacted so much, it was stupid that I cared about what people thought about me more than caring about Daniel’s feelings. If anyone were to be pissed off in this situation; it should be him.

“I’m taking the boys and Brooke shopping for some food, do you wanna come?”

“No thanks.” I kept my eyes glues to the TV as I responded to Gina.

“Well… do you want anything… like chocolate, drinks… maybe even Daniel…”

“No Gina. That’s not even funny, just go.”  I really didn’t know what was up with me today; I was being harsh to everyone around me. Maybe I was somehow on my period.

My sleep was broken from the knocking on the door; I looked at the clock to see it was already 9:00pm. Where was everyone? I checked my phone to see a text from Gina saying that there had been a car crash on a road and that they are stuck there. Great, home alone.

I was about to drift back off to sleep when the knocking on the door got louder. The blanket that was keeping me warm fell to the ground and I slowly made my way to the door. I cracked open the door to see a cold and wet Daniel shivering outside.

“What are you doing Daniel? Come in, quick!” I pulled Daniel by the arm; he had goose-bumps all over him. His plain white top became sea-through and the jeans he was wearing from earlier on stuck on to him like glue.

“Go sit in the living room while I get some of Beau’s clothes for-“

“No, I just wanna talk. I saw what you were looking at on my phone.” I let go as I realized I was still holding onto him, but he thought otherwise; he pulled me onto the couch, not letting go of me.

“Don’t let what anyone says get to you, all of us boys get hate, but we don’t listen to it cos we know it isn’t true. What they said about you is just shit.”

“It’s not that they said it, it’s just that they don’t know what actually happened. How many people think that about me? Think that I’m a slut. Listen-“

“No, you listen to me. I went through my mentions and obviously there are gonna be haters but you should’ve seen how many people were supporting you. How they were wishing you the best and hoping for you to get better.” I looked up at Daniel, was it true that all those fans actually cared? Before I could respond; Daniel pulled me closer and kissed my lips. At first it was innocent kisses but then it became a lot more vicious. I held on to the neck of his shirt, slightly pulling it. My hands were getting wet but I didn’t care, all I wanted was Daniel. Gently, he pushed me down onto the sofa. His body was on mine, not letting our lips part. Daniel’s hands moved down my body and onto my hips, I reached for the bottom of his top and pulled it off. As I was doing so, Daniel gave me soft kisses down my neck, then giving me one last love-bite before helping me take his top off. I wrapped my arms around his neck. Our lips crashing against each other, barely leaving us any breath. This time it was my turn, Daniel let go of my waist and pulled my crop top higher than it already was. He put his head down to the scar left on my stomach from the stab and kissed it. Gently and slowly, he kissed his way up to my collar bone. Daniel took his lips off of my body to take my top off and chucked it to the floor. Daniel was now topless and I was left in my bra, it was quite cold but our bodies were our sources of heat. It was all getting quite hot and sweaty when my phone started to ring. Daniel lifted his head up but I told him to ignore it. After it stopped ringing, we went back to kissing. However, the ringing started again. I groaned as I really didn’t care who was calling, Daniel picked up my phone.

“It’s the doctor; I think you should answer it.” Daniel got off from on top of me as I answered the call, still lying in my bra on the couch.

“Hello? Yes this is Madi.” Daniel came back to start kissing me, I giggled as I tried to get him to stop when suddenly I froze. Daniel realized something had happened.

“Oh my God, are-are you being serious right now?”

Last night was amazing. To hear Daniel say that to me, I never knew how much he loved me. I didn’t want to hurt him when I left, but if this was what he wanted for my last 3 months, this is what I’d give him. Those moments when you’re in a whole different world was how I was with Daniel, just by being in his arms again made my nightmares go away, with his breaths on my neck made my worries blow away.

It was a Sunday morning and the smell of pancakes woke me up, I moved Daniel’s arms away from me so I could get off of the bed. I chucked on some clothes and walked downstairs to here chatter and laughter. Beau had come over for breakfast, Gina was baking another batch and Jai and Luke were feasting away. Once I walked in they all said good morning in unison and noticed the smile that was spread across my face, obviously they knew that Daniel was upstairs and could tell that I happily welcomed him back into my life.

“I wonder what Mads is so happy about?” I laughed at Beau and walked over to the counter to Gina, gave her a hug and took a couple of pancakes on my plate and went to sit next to Beau.

“I’m obviously happy to see you Beau, why else?”

“Oh yeah, of- look who just woke up.” Daniel walked in to the kitchen, still tired, and sat down at the table.

“Fuck I’m tired… Mum, what’s for breakfast?”

“Morning Skip, there’s pancakes over here if you want some.” Daniel always called Gina mum because she literally was like a second mum to him, he was always at the Brooks’ house and he even lived with them for two weeks.

“Guys, I was thinking maybe we should call the other girls and James and go out or something.” Jai walked over to the sink to wash his plate as he waited for a reply.

“Yeah, sick. I’m gonna go call ‘em.” Beau left with Jai and Luke trailing behind, Gina kind of guests that Daniel and I had to talk so she left us to it.

Daniel walked over to where I was sitting and pulled me up by the arms, he kissed me gently and we stood there; my arms around his neck and his arms wrapped tightly around my waist.

“I think we should talk before we start dating again Daniel, I just wanna make sure things are OK between us.”

“Everything’s fine. I was stupid for leaving you, but let’s forget about how much time you have left and focus on each day.” I gave Daniel another kiss and went on my way to get ready.

I didn’t know where we were going to go but anywhere was fine. I hadn’t been out in weeks; the only other people I saw apart from my family were the girls.

Brooke was still in her room sleeping until I heard a scream; Beau probably decided it was time to wake her up.

“BEAU YOU DICK, I WAS ALREADY UP! YOU MADE MY WHOLE BED WET.”

“Shut the fuck up and get ready, we’re going out with the other girls. Love you Brooke, you’re like the sister I never had.” Beau and Brooke probably had the most fights out of all of us, even though it seemed like they didn’t get a long; they were the closest in the whole family.

It was nearing up to 2:00pm and we all decided to go to the park and just chill. Beau told the girls to meet us all there; Brooke was going to come later.

“Madi! I’ve missed going out with you!” I was flooded by hugs from all the girls; it was true, staying at home was boring. Even if I did get to see the girls, going out together was a lot more fun.

“Well as we’re here, let’s enjoy ourselves!” We all sat there; talking about memories we all shared with each other but also with other people. Brooke came half way carrying a bucket of water, at first we were all confused but when we saw her stand over Beau whilst he was sleeping and pour the bucket over him, we couldn’t stop laughing! Beau was slightly pissed off, but it was sunny so he could dry off.

It was 4:00pm and the boys decided that they might as well film some new material. Whilst doing so, us girls decided to all sleep under the Sun. It was a beautiful afternoon, and even though some may say sleeping would ruin a day like this; it was possibly the most perfect thing to do at moment.

We all had been sleeping for at least two hours, everyone else decided to go home but Daniel and I wanted to stay and spend some time together.

 “Daniel, can I ask you something.”

“Yeah, about what?” I looked into Daniel’s eyes; we were both lying on our back with our hands interlocked.

“Promise me that you will take care of Brooke when I’m gone. I know she’s got the others but… she knows how much you mean to me… and you were the person that helped me through everything… I really want you-“

“To help her when you’re gone? Anything that would make you happy, but promise me one thing…”

“What?” I looked confusingly at Daniel, what could I possibly promise him?

“That you won’t go dating any other guys in heaven.” I knew Daniel was joking, he could be a little silly at times but not that dumb. There was no other guy for me. We sat there laughing with each other until it was getting late, but we didn’t want to go. We just wanted to carry on lying down underneath the stars.

“It’s getting late; Gina would probably want me to take you home… unless… you wanna move back with me?”

“As much as I’d love to Daniel, you saw what happened last time. I don’t want you or your family to get hurt because of me. What happens if my uncle comes back?”

“I would never let him hurt you again. Trust me, but I guess you’re right… Can I ask you for a serious promise this time?”  I nodded to show Daniel that I was listening.

“If he ever does anything to you ever again, don’t keep it a secret from me. I won’t ever judge you; you can be honest with me.” I kissed Daniel to tell him I promised. We stood there for a couple of minutes. Just in each other’s arms, moments like these were meant to last forever.

After today nothing could possibly ever go wrong in my life… So I thought.

It had been 2 weeks since I was out of the hospital. I was staying at Gina’s with Jai, Luke and Brooke, Beau was staying at Louise’s because there wasn’t any space. Not once did Daniel come over to see me. I didn’t blame him, after everything he had done for me; he finds out that I wouldn’t be here. Even though Daniel didn’t come to see me, each of the girls came at least every day. We would all talk about how everything was going on in their lives (there was not much to talk about me, nothing much apart from lying down in bed all day) with the boys and what not, I was glad that they were happy. The girls would tell me stories about their dates with the boys, how they would take them out to romantic dinners or just stay in at home and watch movies all night. It reminded me of what Daniel and I used to do.

Jess came over one night; we were sharing a coffee in front of the television watching a cheesy dating show. She was telling me about one day when she was ill and Jai was taking care of her, he had texted her 10 times and she didn’t reply because she was asleep. Jai had gotten worried and went over to her house. She walked over to the door in her pyjamas and wrapped herself in her blanket, as she opened the door Jess was welcomed to a warm hug and a sweet but passionate kiss. Even though she told Jai that she was fine at home by herself, he refused to leave. He walked her over to the sofa and tucked her into her blanket and went to make her dinner. When he finished making dinner they both sat down at the table talking and laughing. Jai had made Spaghetti Bolognese, his speciality. After they finished eating, Jess went to wash all the plates as Jai had done so much hard work. She was washing the last dish when she felt hands wrapping around her stomach, Jess turned around to be met by Jai’s lips. She wrapped her arms around his neck as he pulled her closer; they broke away from each other when Jai heard his phone ringing. He had to go to his grandparents to help his Nonno and Nonna, but before he left he made sure Jess was safely tucked into bed, he told her how he didn’t want to leave and would just stay 5 more minutes. He ended up staying the whole night; Jai told his grandparents that he was busy. They were up all night talking about previous dates and funny memories, sharing a few kisses along the way. It was nearly 1 in the morning by the time Jai had gotten in bed with Jess and wrapped his arms around her, kissing her neck gently and telling her about how much he loved her and how she made him so happy. Even though Jai couldn’t see her and thought Jess was asleep when he was saying all of that, Jess had a smile on her face and went to sleep in Jai’s arms.

That same morning Beau had taken Louise out to breakfast. He woke her up at 8:00am to eat at a little cafe near to Melbourne Central; Beau ordered them both a Hot Chocolate and 2 muffins. Being a gentleman, he pulled out her chair and kissed her cheek as she sat down and took his seat opposite. They talked about everything that was going on and after they finished he wanted to surprise Louise by taking her to a secret little garden that our Nonno took Nonna when they first moved to Melbourne. It was beautiful, there were flowers neatly placed in a row all colour coordinated with a pond going along the side with water lilies scattered in it. But as you went down that path there was a little wooden hut, it was old and crooked but beautiful. Louise was blind-folded so she couldn’t see, but when he pulled the tiny piece of cloth from around her eyes, she stared in amazement at what was in front of her. She turned around and looked into Beau’s eyes; his eyes were Louise’s favourite feature of Beau, the green in them just took her breath away. Beau leaned in for a kiss but instead Louise moved her head away and ran into the hut, pulling Beau along with her. They sat in there and Beau explained why this place was special to him and why he wanted it to be their secret hide-out. Beau grabbed a pen from his pocket and went over to the wall, showing Louise a note that had been scrawling in it. Antonia & Antonio forever and always<3 he smiled as he saw that and started to scribble something down just underneath it with his sharpie. Louise looked over his shoulder to see that he had written exactly the same but instead of Antonia and Antonio, he had written Louise and Beau. After he had finished writing it, he leaned towards Louise and kissed her passionately. They stayed in the hut until mid-night, just lying there holding hands with Louise’s head resting on Beau’s chest so she could hear his gentle heart-beats.

Listening to the girl’s stories really made me want to just run out into the street and fall into Daniel’s arms, but he was long gone. His family were back anyway, they probably wouldn’t have liked me much seeing as I had hurt Daniel. I hated myself for doing that.

Ashley brought home Indian food one night, we were on the laptop going through tweets and Facebook messages when she saw she had gotten one from James, he had said that he had an amazing time with her at the movies last night. Ashley had a pretty tough day at school, she was stressed with all the exams coming up and James decided that he needed to cheer his girl up. Without even telling her, he showed up at her house at 9:00pm and without saying a word, picked her up from her chair and told her to put her shoes on because they were going to watch Paranormal Activity 4. At first Ashley refused but James shut her revision books and grabbed her by the hand, she couldn’t help but smile at how he loved and cared for her. She put on some Converses and a jacket as James called for a taxi to come and pick them up. They arrived at the Cinema to luckily get there on time so they didn’t miss the movie; they took a seat at the far back so they could cuddle up without anyone from behind judging them. James got out his phone so he could check his twitter, Ashley looked up at him in a sad way because she wanted this to be their special moment but then James showed her the tweet he was posting; Out at the movies with my special girl, cuddling up to a horror movie is the best way to spend a Saturday night. Love you @Ashley333 <3 #MyGirl She smiled up at him and gave him a sweet and tender kiss and they cuddled for the rest of the movie. When it got to the scary bits, Ashley tucked her head into his chest so she wouldn’t be frightened because she knew James would protect her. After the movie had finished, James walked Ashley home and they stood at her door. They kissed each other goodnight but as Ashley was about to walk in, James held onto her hand and told her that he would never let anything hurt her and whenever she needed a cuddle or cheering up, all she had to do was call him and he would drop whatever he was doing and go to meet her.

That same night I had gotten a text from Luke saying how he was so happy that Laura had gone to Beau’s party, he had never been happier about a girl before. Obviously they went out that day and soon after I had gotten a text from Laura telling me to call her. She was all giddy on the phone and told me that Luke had taken her to Luna Park; they went on all the rides together. Even though they had to wait in one queue for 4 hours, it was worth it because Luke kept Laura entertained the whole time, always making jokes; even if they weren’t funny, she would still laugh along because of how cute he was when he was excited for something. When they were really close to getting on the ride, Luke had gotten a call so he moved slightly to the side so he could talk to James but didn’t realize these other guys were trying to hit on Laura. When he heard Laura yell at someone and tell them to fuck off, he hung up the phone and turned around to the boys and started shouting at them and telling them that if they talked to her one more time that they would be too hurt to even go on the ride, Luke was a lot bigger than the guys so they backed off and apologized. Luke was still angry when he got on the ride but Laura went and kissed him gently on the lips and thanked him for what he had done. The ride they had gotten on slowly went up and stopped at the top, and then it would shoot down at an insane speed. As they were edging to the top, Luke held Laura’s hand and told her how he was sorry for being angry but he loved her and got jealous when other guys would flirt with her. This was the first time Luke had said he loved Laura but before she could reply, the ride went straight down. They got off the ride and looked at the picture; Laura was facing Luke because she about to tell him that she loved him too but was too late. Laura was shocked but not from the ride, but from what Luke had said. They were about to walk off to jump onto another ride when she grabbed his hand and kissed him again. He had asked what that was for but she just replied with; “I love you too Luke.”

Thinking back to all of the memories the girls had shared with me about them and the boys made me want to be in Daniel’s warmth once more, his muscular arms wrapped around me as we snuggled up drinking coffee.

I was lying in bed, facing the wall. The light was still on in my room, I hadn’t slept with the light off since the accident. I didn’t feel safe; even before that when I was living with my uncle, I left the lights on. The first time I had turned them off was when I had slept with Daniel; he made me feel protected, like nothing would ever happen. I nearly had drifted off to sleep but heard a creek; I didn’t budge because I thought it was probably Gina checking up on me. Instead, the light went out and I felt the bed move a bit. My heart was pounding as I didn’t know who it was, had someone broken in? Was it my uncle? An arm wrapped around my waste, gently caressing my stomach which still had a bandage on it and warm breaths were on my neck, even though I was still scared as to whom it was; I kind of felt comforted, this felt all too familiar.

“I’m sorry I haven’t been here for you, hearing that you were gonna die killed me. I was being a selfish dick; I thought losing you was gonna kill me when instead it was actually you who was dying. I’ve been a shit boyfriend. If you forgive I promise to be here until your very last breath, I know you’ve only got 3 months to live… but… I wanna make them the best 3 months of your life. I love you Madi, I will never leave you again.”
